Mushroom ID

This app is on its way to being the best one Ive used and I have more than a couple. The pictures are incredible and being able to drop pins is great. The only thing holding back from being, in my opinion, the best is the quantity of species. Keep them coming. I have also noticed some of the editable mushrooms listed as toxic or not editable.

Nice App

Great pictures and information. Nice to be able to log your sightings.

Lame - dont bother

The app is lame. I used it to id a mushroom Id picked. After configuring 10 characteristics of my sample mushroom, the app returned a whole slew of "possibilities" of mushrooms that had all kinds of characteristics that my sample did NOT have. My sample was brown, but the app returned mushrooms of all sorts of colors --including blue shrooms!! My sample had free gills, but the app returned mushrooms with free gills, attached gills, decurrent gills, even porous gills. My sample had no ring around the stem, but the number one possibility returned by the app had a ring. Its as if the app returned a completely randomly selected set of mushroom ignoring the characteristics that you type in the id the mushroom. Id like my $4.99 back please.

Skip this useless app

Youll get more info from a local pocket guide. I found no relevant info for my area. Also this purchase doesnt qualify for a refund (ripoffs) so save your money.

Ok, but poor descriptions

On the plus side it has some nice pictures, but this was not written by a mycologist. Every edible mushroom is denoted by "said to be edible by some" morels and meadow mushrooms are definitely edible. Its like the author doesnt trust his descriptions. The pictures are nice but are mainly of the cap. You also need pictures of the gills and stems. The common meadow mushroom is edible, delicious but is distinguished by the color of its gills and how the stem is attached to the cap. Nice app for rough identification, but not for anything else. Sorry, but not currently worth $4.

To rain

Good app, would be much better if it indicated which were choice eating, would give 5 stars if it did

Awful App

Doesnt have 10% of the mushroom varieties included. Impossible to ID but a few mushrooms. Dont waste your money or time on this app.

Unhelpful

Has a very limited amount of information. Not worth it, at all.

Like it

Enjoy it like the features and HD nearly pornographic mushroom imagery

Mushroom id North America

We have a lot of mushrooms that grow in our back yard I got the app to try to identify them, Im pleased that they all were in the app it did what I wanted and more by giving us an in depth explanation of each mushroom. I know I wont be eating any of them at all.

Not for field ID of edibles

I purchased this app to aid in field identification of edible vs. non edible mushrooms. What it provides is a very limited number of mushrooms sorted by family which does not help me in any way. The lack of varieties is striking for an app billed as Mushroom ID. Its does not distinguish between edible/non edible. The app provides one very good picture of a mushroom but lacks in specific identifying features. For example, under the category of oyster mushrooms two pictures are provided but the app does not distinguish between varieties. I would imagine This renders the app useless for the majority of users, at least those users sharing my intent. Maybe its a regional guide, but it is not marketed as such. It certainly is not for the upper Midwest. It may work for some, but my guess is those would be few. I was hoping this app would replace carrying field guides in the woods. As of now, it does not. I will continue to monitor the app and will absolutely amend this review with improvement. Heres hoping.

Extremely limited species list

A well constructed app, looks nice, no glitches Ive noticed; but needs more species. I travel around North America a lot, and have made many attempts to identify fungi I find to no avail. Doesnt even have Ganoderma lucidem, sad really. Mostly useless.

Shroomer

Excellent app, great mushroom photos and the information is easy to understand.

Horrible, barely scratches the surface of wild mushrooms

This app hardly has any of the mushrooms youll find out hunting. Extremely disappointing and a huge waste of money.

Perfect app for the beginner

The app is designed for the beginner and seemed to have included the most common species which is great. There are apps with a lot more species including all the rare ones which you will usally will never find anyway. A really nicely done app with loads of reliable images and helpful descriptions to distinguish the different species.

Beautiful images - need more

The mushrooms that are included are described superficially but adequately. The images are stunning. Would appreciate more species included but it probably takes time to get such good photos!! A more detailed description would also improve the app immensely. I think it is a useful app . Sue

Great for beginners!

Really good for beginners who are new to mycology; really helps in learning names and recognizing species.

Its ok

Im in WA state I would like to see a map of specific mushrooms in my region.

Disappointing

Doesnt say anything about whether or not they are edible. Waste of money.

Ugh...

Yes the pics are great but very poor descriptions, not even a spore print color. And very few shrooms in general.
